We had sooooooo much fun at our Heart of a Lamb Team Christmas Party!!! One of our highlights was the cookie exchange! In January, we made an adorable mini-album to document the day :) We used the CTMH Festive card kit and along with some fun instructions from Ginni Candelaria, Thanks Ginni!!! (when you order the card kit, I'll make sure to pass the instructions on to you ;0) I still have some pictures to add but check it out so far....sooooo cute!

Technique Tuesday - Got Paint?

1-Paint Stamping-Create a desired shade of paint using re-inkers and apply the paint using the foam brush on the stamp while on the acrylic block. Stamp onto your project being careful to use a down and up motion, as the paint will cause the stamp to slide.

2-Colorwashing with Pearl Paint-Squeeze Create-A-Shade Pearl Paint on to a paint tray and mix with re-inker to add color. Stamp an image on your cardstock and sponge ink around the edges of your cardstock. Paint in a crosshatch motion over the entire piece of cardstock giving it a colorwashed effect. Let dry and embellish!

3-Paint Edging-Using either type of paint mixed to the desired shade, take a round sponge, dip in the paint, and swipe the edges of your cardstock. Allow to dry before adhering to your project.

4-Paint Resist-Stamp an image with the Versamark ink pad and heat emboss with Clear powder. Next, mix the desired shade of paint for your project. Using the Flat Nylon Brush, dip into paint, and paint in a back and forth motion over the embossed image. Quickly take a paper towel and rub off the paint from the embossed design.

5-Texture Tool Painting-Using either type of paint mixed to the desired shade, take one of the Texture Tools, dip in the paint, and distress your cardstock. Each texture tool will give a completely different result.

6-Drywall Tape Painting-Cover your desired project with drywall tape. Using either paint mixed to the desired shade, take the foam paintbrush and softly brush over the drywall tape. Remove drywall tape from project creating a neat textured background.

7-Dry Brush Painting-Using either paint mixed to the desired shade, take the fan paintbrush and dip into the paint. Brush on to scratch paper first and then on to your cardstock to give a dry brushed effect.

8-Painted Accessories-Using either paint mixed to the desired shade, take the foam brush and paint Close To My Heart accessories to match your layout and projects. Try painting our Dimensional Elements, buttons, Just Blooms, and even metal accessories.

9-Faux Woodgrain-Mix a drop of Ceramcoat Paint with Desert Sand Re-Inker using many drops of re-inker. Take an old toothbrush, dip into paint, and swipe across cardstock in a back and forth motion. Next, softly sponge with Desert Sand ink over cardstock to fill in any areas missed by toothbrush. Using a Black My Legacy Writer and a ruler, draw lines over the painted surface to resemble wood grain.

10-Sanded Painted Textured Cardstock-Using either paint mixed to the desired shade, take the flat brush and paint over the textured cardstock. Once completely dry, try sanding the textured cardstock for a new distressed look.

11-Painted Reverse Masking-Stamp and cut out your image or letters. Tape the image or letters down to your project using repositionable adhesive. Using either paint mixed to the desired shade, take the flat brush and paint over the image or letters. Remove the taped letters or image to create the masked effect.

12-Splatter Painting-Using either type mixed to the desired shade, take the flat, fan, or toothbrush and dip into paint. Using your finger flick the bristles of the brush resulting in a splatter effect of the paint on to your project.

At our last unit meeting, Jamie (below) showed us her Pampered Chef Goal frame and we decided we just had to make one for ourselves!!! Below is the end results for those that did one :) We used the 6 areas that sister consultant, Cherie Lynn, talked about on a past Scattered Hearts conference call. Family/Spiritual/Social/Health/Career/Educational

Family Friday - Chasey's softball.....

One of my daughter's, Chasey, had her first Synergy softball tournament in N. Platte this last weekend. We got rained out on Saturday, but after a night of the coaches drying the fields, we got to play 3 games on Sunday. Her team (the 12U) took 3rd place. Not to shabby!

3-D Thursday - Grandma's Memory Box

When I was first introduced to these My Creations Memory Keeper boxes, I knew right away what I would keep in one of them....my letters and notes from my Grandma! Now comes the truth, it only took me a year to finally create the box, but I love the way it turned out!!! Using the That's Amore level 2 paper packet and lots of chocolate ink for distressing.... I got just the look I wanted :) And the Framed Fun Dimensional Elements were sooooo easy to cover with the patterned paper with my bonding memory glue! (Hint....to trim close to the edges and in the nooks-N-crannys of the dimesional element pieces, use your finishing files!!! But make sure your glue is completly dry first!) For embellishments, I used our paper flowers, Foundry Metal Accessories, and a My Pages Talk Voice Recorder to keep her voice memorialized for decades to come. These boxes have a magnetic flap and come flat. What will you put in your box?????

Family Friday...

So just recently, my daughter Chasey, has informed me that she wants to be a baker when gets older. Now nothing is wrong with this career choice, other than it squashes Mothers dream of her daughter becoming a doctor, making loads of money, and putting me up in a ritzy retirement home later on....

But being the good parent that I am (don't laugh!), I am helping her pursue her dreams! For her great-grandmas 91st birthday, she wanted to make her a cake.

After much discussion in the Wilton isle at Hobby Lobby, she decided on little individual cakes instead of one big one. Using her birthday money as well, she purchased a whole Wilton toolbox of goodies (thank goodness we had a 40%off coupon!)!!!

We also purchased some fondant. Not quit sure what this stuff is, but later find out that it doesn't taste as good as it looks! At least the kind that comes out of a box that has probably been on the shelf for quite a while!

I think Chasey has been watching to many of those cake shows on TV as well... she was using terms like "dirty icing" and naming the tools like a "leveler". Wow.... maybe this is the profession for her!

My mother used to make wedding cakes when I was younger, so we had Grandma Kay on speed dial that day. No, these are not dirty snowballs! They are the flower pots! Next time I think we will add coloring to the fondant first instead of painting it on!

Chasey had a ball at doing the flowers! Unfortunately, her frosting wasn't thick enough though, so even after setting up overnight, they did not peel off the wax paper very good. We had to scrap a lot of them. But at least she got the experience of doing them....5 cookie sheets of them!!!

OK, so we managed to survive this project.... and she still is loving it! Next birthday, her brother's... April 4th! I still keep mentioning that she could be a cake decorating doctor, a mother just never gives up!

Wednesday's WOWIE Artwork!

Beautiful gifts deserve beautiful wrappings, don't they??!!!! Check out how I (or should I say, my daughter), stamped white tissue paper to coordinate with the cards I made!

These were for a bridal shower and the bride's colors are red, black, and silver! What a perfect match!And these were for a baby shower that was the same day as the bridal shower. Yes, a very busy day that was!!!!
Here theme for the new baby girl was butterflies, so of course we had to match that! The card was actually a swinging card, so the butterfly actually moves!!!
I had fun making the cards (so simiple and easy using our "Originals" and "Wishes" how-to books!), and Chasey had fun stamping the tissue paper! What a team we make!

Hmmmmmm.......somebody needs a manicure!

Technique Tuesday - Flower Power!!!

Not sure why I waited so long to actually try dying our paper flowers! I love the vivid colors and how they match the papers so perfectly!!!

These are 2 of the cards that we will be making at the card crazy workshop this month!

To try dying your own paper flowers, follow these guidelines:

1. Choose a container that your flowers will fit in. For my smaller ones, I used a craft jar. For my bigger ones, I grouped a glass dish from my kitchen ;)

2. Add rubbing alcohol to container. Then add drops of re-inker (the amount of drops depends on how vivid you what the color) I had to experiment and add more as I went along!

3. Using my tweezers, I dipped (more like dunked) my paper flowers into the solution. Then laid it to dry on a stack of scratch paper. (It will soak through whatever you put it on so make sure to protect your surface!)

4. One can use water instead of rubbing alcohol, but the rubbing alcohol dries a lot more quickly!!!!

That's it!!! So easy.... like I said, I should have tried this a long time ago!!!

It's not everday that one gets to celebrate a 91st Birthday with someone you love! My dear Grandma Frieda turned 91 on March 12th! She is 50 years my elder!

My daughter, Chasey, even got to try her hand at her new found interest (cake making!)

Chasey made flower pot cupcakes! She used fondant (sp?) around the base for the flower pot, and then made her own flowers for the top.
She had some issues with the frosting setting up on the flowers, but otherwise, they turned out pretty darn cute looking! Now taste wise.... that's another blog, LOL!

My son, Tristin, had fun showing great-grandma how to play his PSP! Wow, that was fun to watch, a 91 year old driving a car on a hand-held video game! She was such a sport! Tristin later informed me that she crashed a lot, tee hee!!!

Just had to post this letter from my Niece Taylor. I had wanted her to come stay with us before Christmas, but with the weather forcast not good, we told her she couldn't. Santa might not find her here in GI. She still wanted to come anyways! Her letter above reads

Notice the cars still covered! This was our street a few days after the snow storm. And this looks good compared to the day after!
Everyone kept getting stuck on our corner so Lance finally decided to snow blow the street as well!

Open and empty a can of your choice. (use a can opener that doesn't create a sharp edge). Fill the can with whatever you want! Ex. candy, lil' gift, etc... Using liquid glass, glue the can lid back on. Turn upside down and decorate your can however you choose! I used the backside of an Animal Cookie B&T sheet, White grossgrain ribbon, craft buttons, green embroidery floss, and Rub-ons!
What a cute, inexpensive gift for just about anyone!!!!!!

Baby Shower fun cont.......

Our last game was Baby Shower "Loving" Advice: Have everyone write a "loving" message for the mother and father to be on a notecard - giving them advice/tip for when the baby is born or during their last few days or months before the baby is born. Examples of this would be "Remember to enjoy the moments since they go fast, Get as much sleep as possible before the baby is born and when he/she takes naps, Make sure to take lots of pictures and keep up with a journal writing everything the baby does for the first time, etc. This can be a very memorable and touching activity at the shower as well as help for the new parents.

I created a flip book to insert these words of advice along with the pictures of each guest with Shell. Hopefully, it will be a great momento for Shell and baby!

Boy - OH - Boy!!!!!!

What a fun baby shower my sister, Dalyn, and I put on for my younger sister, Rachelle! This is her first, and it's a boy!!!! She is due January 8th, so we haven't seen the little guy yet, but are anxiously awaiting his arrival!!! Most of you know how I like to throw a good party (lol), so I thought I'd share some of the fun games we did that day!

We started off with the Name Tag Donation Game: (Materials: piggy bank, name tags, safety pins) Before the baby shower, make name tags for the guests. The names have to be baby-related like pacifier, dirty diaper, burp rag, etc. Put all the name tags in a bag and as the guests arrive, each will draw a name out of the bag and pin it on their shirts. This will be their name for the rest of the baby shower. If anyone calls the guests by their REAL name, then they have to put a quarter or just loose change in the baby's piggy bank. By the end of the party, the baby has a great amount of money for their first piggy bank. I got a large white Piggy bank at Hobby Lobby and some fine tip sharpie markers for everyone to sign the piggy bank too :) This game was a huge hit, but I do have to say that I, personally, think I just put my new nephew thru college with all the change I had to give up, tee hee!!!!

The next thing, we got ready for Baby Gift Bingo: (Materials- Pens, Pre-Printed Bingo cards that use the numbers of how many people attend the baby shower) Prior to opening the baby shower gifts, number each gift on the box starting with one. If you know that 15 people will be attending your shower, pre-print bingo cards with numbers 1 through 15 and randomly place them on 15 cards. (If not sure how many, just have the guests write the numbers in randomly and use free spaces in the middle, and corners if necessary.) When the mommy-to-be decides to open the presents, she grabs the present she wants to open and reads the number out loud. As soon as someone receives bingo, they win the baby shower game and the baby shower prize.

We played the Bingo throughout the rest of the shower and had Shell opening a gift here and there. Chasey (my daughter) was in charge of putting gifts in the gift area as people came in and putting a number on them. She loved being able to help out :)

While Shell was opening her gifts, she thought Dalyn was writing down who gave her what, but she really was writing down what Shell said as she opened each gift. Why.... so we could do this at the end of the party.....Watch What You Say - (Materials: Pen and Paper). This is just a game where laughter is the prize! While the mommy-to-be is opening her gifts, have (Dalyn) write down everything she says while she is opening each baby shower gift. When she has finished opening all the gifts, tell the guests that you would like to read something to them! Say this is what the mommy-to-be said to her man the night she conceived the baby! Then read each little saying from the list! You will have everyone rolling in tears. Rachelle seemed to say "Oh, how Cute!" a lot!!!!!! hmmmmmmmmmm...........................

This next game is a classic that no baby shower should be without, however gross it may be, it's a gotta have one!!! Guess the Chocolate - (Materials- 5-10 diapers with 5-10 different types of chocolates). This game is one of the funniest and most popular baby shower games. Have the baby shower host or appointed person moderately melt 5-10 different candy bars separately, placing each one in a diaper to be viewed by everyone. Mark each diaper as A, B, C, D, etc. Have everyone guess which candy is in each of the diapers. Make sure to use some candies that have nuts, toffee, caramel, etc. You are sure to get great laughs! (and we did!!!)

For this game, we won't have a winner until the baby is born! Baby Shower Lotto (Materials- Calendar with large calendar month dates, highlighter pen, and normal pen). Each day is divided into two parts: am and pm for the guests to choose from in picking the date and general time the baby will be born. Make sure to have the due date highlighted. Guests can "buy in" to a lotto ticket for a certain day (am or pm) that they think the baby will be born. The guest who guesses closest wins a baby shower gift, of course given after the baby is born. The fun part of the game is that the lotto tickets can be purchased by using something other than money that is useful to the parents. Instruct guests beforehand that a lotto ticket may be purchased with a diaper pack or baby wipes.

For Shell's shower, guests needed to bring a pack of diapers for every space that they wanted to write their name on. The calendars were made from a blank CTMH calendar, decorated with Sweet Home Paper Packet. The pages were put in a memory protector and ribbon added to the top so she could hang it while they await the arrival of their son! The closest person to the due date will be sent a $15 GC!!!

Verdell is gonna kill me for posting these pictures, she hated this game (yet, she laughed the hardest I think!) Tinkle In The Pot - (Materials: two quarters for each baby shower participant, masking tape, pickle jars or glass bowls, balloons optional) - Every pregnant woman is always running to the bathroom. This game lets us laugh about it. Group participants in teams of 4 or 5. Be sure to have two quarters for each person and jars/dishes as there are teams. Place a tape strip at a starting line on the floor. Have teams line up behind the starting line. Place jars across the room from each team. Baby shower contestants must place the quarter between their knees and waddle to the jar. They must drop the quarter in the jar (tinkle in the pot). NO HANDS ALLOWED!! If the person misses or drops the quarter along the way the must start over. The first team to make all of their potty runs will win prizes. Because there are so many winners we had small inexpensive gifts. This had the ladies rolling with laughter. We also had some hilarious photos afterward. It is also fun to put balloons up your shirt. You cannot see the pot while playing.

OK, the fun didn't end here, but I'm afraid my post is getting to large! I'll go ahead and post this with more to come........... stay tuned :)

Patty's party last night was soooo festive and fun!!! A few of us were even decked out in costumes, WHOOOHOOO for those ladies that made it a TRUE Ladies Night Out!!!! Didn't get a picture, but even I donned a cowboy hat, scarf, western shirt, and 5 oclock shadow!!!! Great sales and loads of fun!!!!! Thanks Patty for being a super Hostess!!!!

The Melting Pot...

OMG - as my daughter would say! This place was fabulous!!! While in Minneapolis and in search of a restaurant, we stubbled upon the Melting Pot. After the intial shock of the price, we decided, what the hay, we'll probably never be here again with friends to do this! (a few drinks added to the festive atmosphere, I'm sure!) Course upon course of scruptious goodies, that we had to cook ourselves, yes... the meat was raw! But the broth to cook them in was so yummy, and the cheesecake dipped in peanut butter chocolate was to die for!!! I'm sure being with my buddies made it ever so more festive and fun, but it is a place worth trying, at least once!

Buttons are always a great way to jazz up any layout or card. Add a little hemp, stick on a glue dot, viola..... instant cuteness!!! But do you ever wonder.... how else could I use this button? Wonder no more! Thanks to Julie Reynolds (sister CTMH consultant) and many other fabulous consultants, she compiled this great list of techniques and uses for buttons! Try some out and I would love to see what you come up with!!!

Customize by adhering BT or CS underneath with Liquid Glass.
Glue on small piece and let dry
Cut around with scissor
Sand edges with sanding block
Place ties through button holes, creating criss-cross, single or double lines, knot or bow

Cardstock strip
Narrow ribbon
Use brads to place in holes
Apply Rub-Ons to buttons
Distress colored buttons with paint – “Shabby Chic”
Delta Ceramcoat Paint
Create-a-Shade Paint
Distress colored buttons with sandpaper
Custom-color Ceramcoat Paint with re-inkers and cover, apply stripes or polka dots
Apply knotted ribbon or bow with Mini-Glue Dot
Stamp an image on cardstock and adhere button over top with Liquid Glass
“Bling” buttons up by adding sparkles
Uses:
Use as letter “O” when spelling a word with stamps or dimensional elements (or number “zero”)
Use white buttons for “bubbles” on a baby bath scrap page
Use in multiples to create an image, ie: arrange in a triangle to make a tree, or stack 3 to make a snowman
Centers on flowers:
metal-rimmed paper tags
paper flowers
dimensional element flowers
Use as flowers, adding stems (hand drawn, waxy flax, stamped) and making a bouquet of buttons
Use for pull tabs on hidden journaling boxes
Make a cluster of buttons for photo corners
Adhere a button to cover those adhesive spots that show when gluing down vellum
Adhere with Liquid Glass to make:
Magnets for white boards or refrigerator
Thumb tacks for bulletin boards

Let your imagine go: butterfly/insect heads, Christmas tree ornaments, train or car wheels, snowman or animal eyes, a pom pom for Santa’s hat!

Look at this adorable mini 3 ring binder album we made at our Chocolate University in CA! And it was made from one of our Level 1 paper packets - Bella!!! The 3-ring binders are fairly inexpensive too, check it out!
Change the paper up and these make great gifts for just about anyone! Baby books, teacher's, Christmas presents, grandparents, bridal showers, the list is endless!

My buddies and me at the Directors dinner at Disney!!! Each year, CTMH corporate treats the directors and above to a special dinner. This year was at Disney and we got to go on a ride as well. Jillene, Barb, myself, and Jo went on the "Soarin' over California" ride! So much fun!!!

We got lots of goodies at the Leadership convention as well. Here are two of my roomies (Lynette and Jo) pictured with just a few of the goodies we won! Like Jo & my tiara's we had to wear for making directors this last year??? If we took them off, we had to buy that person a stamp set!!! teehee!!!!

Today at our Heart of a Lamb unit meeting, one of our team members (Melissa B) showed us how to make these adorable Flip Flap albums!!!She got her idea from a newspaper article that suggests using it for a wedding shower scrapbook. Our creative juices started to flow and we thought: Baby shower, 12 yrs. of School pictures, Christmas pictures from family & friends, favorite recipes, teacher gifts with pics of her students, etc..... At my team unit meeting last Saturday, we made these adorable Stationary boxes. Didn't have time to decorate mine then, but did tonight and I LOVE it!!!! Had so much fun using the new Wishes Card Confidence book to make the different sized cards to go inside it as well!

The paper pack I used was Silhouette (it's good for almost any occasion, can't go wrong with it!!!)

The address book was a mini composition notebook that I just covered the front of.

Aren't these cards just to stinkin' cute!!!!!!!

I know, I know, you all want the directions now, huh! Sunday, July 12th, from 1-3pm, I am having a workshop to teach you how to make the Stationary Box. Just the box, not the cards (you can be creative on your own at home with that :) The cost is $5 and I will let you know your choice of colors when you RSVP. Below is my box before I decorated it (minus the address book). This is what you will be making at the workshop, plus the address book & covered pen, minus the journaling tags in the picture below :)

These are great gifts for just about anyone!!! Once you learn how, you'll be making them for everyone!!!!

Don't forget to make a hand-made card for that special guy for Father's Day! I wipped this one up for my Dad today (Chasey made one for Lance) using this cute shirt fold. I got the directions from this site:
